Background information about the job or company:

The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner Quality Assurance and Safety for performing various duties related to fisheries management and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities or duties:

• Developing plans for taking samples and testing the quality of water, fish, and fish products
• Implementing procedures for laboratory testing of samples before certification
• Reviewing and updating laboratory manuals
• Analysing samples and keeping records of analysis reports
• Providing technical support for procurement of consumables
• Preparing reports and following up on laboratory accreditation
• Carrying out any incidental work relating to Uganda Fisheries Laboratory

Qualifications or requirements:

• Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries, Zoology, or Aquatic Biology/Science
• Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University/Institution
• Additional qualification in Laboratory Science will be an added advantage

Experience needed:

Minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience in Fisheries Management and Development, with three (3) years at the level of Senior Fisheries Officer in Government
